From Glasses to Contacts to LASIK, the Visian ICL ushers in the next generation of vision technology. ICL = Implantable Collamer Lens
What is ICL? While you may have heard it called the Implantable Contact Lens, the Visian ICL officially stands for Implantable Collamer Lens. Collamer is a technologically advanced lens material exclusive to STAAR Surgical. Because of the collagen base in Collamer, it is 100% compatible with your body’s natural chemistry. Among collamer’s advantages are its anti-reflectivity and UV protection. The Visian ICL is the best choice for a lens that is going to remain in your eye for a lifetime.
A Simple Procedure
The Visian ICL procedure is a short 15 minute outpatient procedure. Prior to the implantation of the Visian ICL, you will receive topical anesthetic drops to minimize discomfort. The doctor then creates a micro opening to insert the lens. The lens is folded and loaded into a small cartridge and as the lens is injected, it gently unfolds in your eye. Patients then experience an immediate improvement in vision quality and are “Wowed” by the results.
If you are between the ages of 21 and 45 and nearsighted, you are an excellent candidate for the Visian ICL. The Visian ICL is able to treat patients with thin corneas, dry eyes and patients with low and extreme high refractive errors. In fact, if you have thin corneas or dry eyes, ask your doctor if the Visian ICL may be the best vision correction option for you.
